Thanks to the support of Associazione Consorzio Communitas ETS, one of the EU Passworld partners in Italy, Tamim’s path towards autonomy was not only possible—it was remarkable. After arriving in Tricarico (Basilicata) and being welcomed by the local Caritas team, Tamim quickly stood out for his commitment and clarity of purpose. He was selected by the Fondazione Italiana Accenture for a training programme in cybersecurity, which he completed with distinction.
This training led to an internship—and eventually an apprenticeship contract—with Accenture in Naples. Even as he transitioned out of the initial reception programme, Communitas, in close coordination with Caritas Italiana, ensured his journey didn’t lose momentum. Through their network, Tamim relocated to Castel Volturno, staying at the Caritas Diocesan centre, which allowed him to start his new job in time.
Now, Tamim lives independently in Naples and is preparing, with the support of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Italy, to reunite with his family through humanitarian corridors. His story speaks to the transformative power of access—to education, to work, and above all, to community.
In recognition of this commitment to integration through work and dignity, UNHCR Italy has awarded Associazione Consorzio Communitas the “We Welcome 2024” logo, a badge of honour given to civil society actors that actively foster inclusive and sustainable pathways for refugees.
UNHCR’s acknowledgment is more than symbolic: it is a shared belief in work as a driver of inclusion and self-reliance.
Tamim is a living testament to what’s possible when talent meets opportunity, and when organisations collaborate across borders, sectors, and disciplines, like we do in Eu Passworld.
